Description
Tucked away in a secluded part of Megalochori, Villa Soleil provides total privacy and an ideal hide-away. Built into the volcanic rock, the Villa once served as the village school to the local children. The outdoor area is very private and the cobbled courtyard, complemented by a glistening pool, provides the perfect outdoor space for lazing around on hot summer days. This traditional Villa ensures tranquility, privacy and a taste of village life. Villa Soleil is ideal for families wanting to experience the true island life-style of days gone by without compromising on comfort.
Included in the price are: Taxes, transfer to/from airport or port, one car rental (w/unlimited mileage), two hours daily housekeeping, Concierge and porter service, and a complementary cell phone.
Upon request at additional charge: Private chef, grocery shopping and delivery, private masseuse, private tour guide and boat charter.
The layout of the villa takes the form of the old, traditional style Santorini homes. The floors throughout the villa are traditional polished cement and are covered with rugs, offering a cool and sophisticated air to the interior. As the village of Megalochori is surrounded by vineyards, the villa continues with this theme with unusual light fittings fashioned out of basket-like vines.
The farm-style kitchen is large and well equipped with modern appliances (stove, fridge, coffee maker and kettle), an antique dining table and beautifully crafted chairs. Cutlery and crockery are housed in an ornate antique dresser, adding old world charm to the kitchen.
The original double wooden doors open up into a single room and a staircase leads you up to a delightful den, which can accommodate two people. The latter is best suited to children over six, due to its size, narrow access, and the sense of a loft/hideaway.
Through an arched passageway you will find the comfortably appointed living room with doors leading out to the furnished courtyard and pool. Double doors lead from the lounge to a comfortable double bedroom. The open-space bathroom has a Jacuzzi and shower with a separate restroom.
Peace, tranquility and by-gone days best describe one of the few traditional settlements on the island. Situated six miles from Fira, Megalochori is within easy reach of Akrotiri and many beaches on the island. Today Megalochori has a lively community with a fairly large number of permanent residents, adding to the local flavour and charm.
Megalochori presents a multitude of faces, with narrow roads begging to be explored. Three of the island\'s largest wineries are located here, with excellent tavernas located in the village.
