Description
Villa Mosaic can only be described as a small treasure. Tucked away in the heart of the village of Megalochori, the charming villa is a gentle 200 meter stroll up a foot path from the village square. The exterior of the house is clad entirely in local volcanic stone. This newly renovated villa, originally a canava, was once used to produce the sweet nectar-like dessert wine, Vinsanto, which is unique to the island of Santorini. Two cylindrical troughs, once used for distilling the wine have been preserved to make unusual interior light features. Villa Mosaic is perfect for a couple that are looking for a small, traditional and uniquely Santorinian home on the island.
Included in the price are: Taxes, transfer to/from airport or port, one car rental (w/unlimited mileage), two hours daily housekeeping, Concierge and porter service.
Upon request at addional charge: Private chef, grocery shopping and delivery, private masseuse, private tour guide and boat charter.
The enclosed cobbled courtyard has a private plunge pool which doubles as a Jacuzzi with four massage jets to one side of the pool. The canava has one open-plan room which serves as a sitting room and bedroom, with a small kitchenette to the front of the villa. The spacious Moroccan style bathroom has hand-crafted brass fittings, a stone banquette and large shower.
Peace, tranquility and by-gone days best describe one of the few traditional settlements on the island. Situated six miles from Fira, Megalochori is within easy reach of Akrotiri and many beaches on the island. Today Megalochori has a lively community with a fairly large number of permanent residents, adding to the local flavour and charm.
Megalochori presents a multitude of faces, with narrow roads begging to be explored. Three of the island\'s largest wineries are located here, with excellent tavernas located in the village.
