Description
Villa Leonora consists of two independent homes built in 1800 and completely renovated in 2006. They sit next to each other, perched on a wooded hillside overlooking the lush and beautiful Prosecco hills. The interior of the main home (sleeps six) is decorated in a typical \"Venetian\" style with classic and elegant furnishings, sumptuous fabrics, hand-blown chandeliers, and eye-catching frescoes. Large polished wooden beams intersect the public areas and are complimented by rose-colored tile and warm timber floors. The annex next door (15 meters) sleeps two and is perfect for visiting friends, parents of families, or guests who require a bit of privacy. (It is not rented out separately). The house was used during the Second World War by Austrian military forces as a control point, thanks to its dominant position overlooking the valley. This Austrian influence is clearly seen by looking at the structure and paintings on the walls of the house. The large grounds consist of a lovely, well-tended garden, pool with sun beds and chairs, a barbecue, and furnished gazebo with table and chairs for al fresco dining. A secure garage accommodates three cars and offers six mountain bikes for guest\'s use.
On the ground floor of the main villa is a living area with sofas, Satellite TV and fireplace, a dining room with seating for eight, and a fully-equipped kitchen (stove, oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, dishwasher). Up the polished wooden staircase to the first floor are three double bedrooms, (one of them is in the attic, suitable for younger guests) and three bathrooms. The delightful Tower next door features a living/dining room with TV, a double bedroom, small kitchen, bathroom with shower, and an external staircase leading to a panoramic rooftop terrace.

Located only a few km from Villa Leonora is the town of Asolo, one of the more charming historical villages of the Veneto region, where the famous actress Eleonora Duse, the English poet Robert Browning, the composer Malipiero, and the English traveler Freja Stark lived. The Castle (a fortress in the Middle Ages that was home to Queen Caterina Cornaro and her Renaissance court, modified several times over the years, with the characteristic original Reata towers) today houses the theater dedicated to Eleonora Duse.
