Tips for Traveling and Renting in Algarve

Enclosed by ranges of hills to the North, the Algarve has a climate, culture, and scenery very different from the rest of Portugal. Its stunning coastline and year-round mild weather, maintained by warm sea and air currents from nearby North Africa, make it one of the most popular vacation destinations in southern Europe. The area is famous for its wonderful seafood, its picturesque towns along the coast and its wonderful beaches.

The Algarve offers an unsual blend of simple traditional houses and elegant villas. There are some quite villages and more sopphisticated towns such as Faro on the East and Lagos on the West.

The Algarve has 3000 hours of sunshine a year. It offers magnificent beaches varying from wide and sweeping to small coves, excellent for surfing, sailing and water sports.There are numerous Golf courses, tennis, squash, paragliding etc.. The Algarve also has beautiful unspoilt countryside which attracts painters, ornithologists, walkers, cyclists and botanists from around the world. The Algarve has many historical interests such as Sagres, Cape St. Vincent which is the southwetern tip of Europe, attractive fishing villages such as Praia da Luz, Burgau, Salema. The Algarve is also famous for its lively colourful markets, its local handicrafts, and its excellent selection of good restaurants and wines. The portuguese people is honest, tolerant, hospitable and child-friendly.

Houses - There are a number of single family houses which are available for rent in Portugal. These are typically three or four bedroom properties which are renovated farmhouses equipped with modern appliances. . They are typically located in a village or small town and are perfect for a group who do not need a high level of luxury but want comfortable accommodations. Many of these properties have their own pool and lovely views.

Villas - Country villas are usually the second houses of wealthy Portuguese and foreigners who visit the Algarve only occasionally. These properties can be large and very well.appointed. Many of these villas have pools and beautiful views of the sea or mountain. The quality level and furnishings of these properties is generally quite high.
